With the introduction of femtosecond laser treatments for lamellar and incisional corneal surgery more than a decade ago, the interest in this technology has become prominent in the ophthalmic anterior segment surgical world. Femtosecond lasers are pulsed laser devices emitting laser radiation with ultrashort pulse duration in the domain of femtoseconds (10~(-15) seconds). Femtosecond lasers use a shorter pulse time than photocoagulation (eg, argon), photoablation (eg, excimer), and photodisruption (eg, neodymi-um:YAG) lasers, all of which require 10~(-9) seconds.
