摘要

A quarter of patients with a preoperative diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) on needle biopsy specimens are subject to underestimation of invasive breast cancer at the time of the surgical procedure; consequently, additional axillary lymph node staging is required. This study has demonstrated that the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) on 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) is a useful predictive marker for the underestimation of invasive breast cancer in DCIS.
