摘要

Reporting on the ethical dilemmas from an emerging frontier of clinical practice, telephone nursing, Holmstrom and Hoglund (2007) identify how questions of autonomy, integrity and prioritising present ethical dilemmas from a sample of 12 nurses in Sweden. They conclude that, while these dilemmas are commonly found in nursing, they are particu-larly challenging for telephone nurses. The researchers recommend that health care employers provide opportunities to strengthen ethical competence in this area. This, in turn, would most likely produce benefits for the staff, including decreased moral uncertainty and distress and produce positive patient outcomes.
