The first three papers in this issue of the Journal introduce a set of ideas by Profs.William L.Scott and Martin J.O'Donnell of Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis.Called,"Distributed Drug Discovery,"the acronym(D~3)is easy on the lips;that is helpful not so much for chemists(I'm old enough to recall MINDO-"Minimal Neglect of Differential Overlap"),but for legislators who will one day find this research raison d'etre(tip of the hat to Dr.Kissinger)compelling enough to fund.Without serving as spoiler for the Perspective paper,here are some of the aspects of D~3 that stick with me:
