In a recently published article in the New England Journal of Medicine, a group of researchers present their results of a study into a potential bias against funding in clinical trials.Speaking exclusively to Clinical Investigation, co-author Aaron Kesselheim, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (MA, USA), explains what lead to this research, "Financial relationships in medicine is a very controversial topic these days, and conflict of interest disclosure is the intervention taken in most circumstances to address the existence of these relationships. But few people have rigorously studied the impact of conflict of interest disclosure, and in particular its interaction with the information conveyed in the publication to which the disclosure is appended."
