The chemical bond remains the most distinctive feature of chemistry.Formed as the result of an attraction between the participating atoms,it requires an input of energy to separate the atoms or break the bond.However,an alarming fraction of science students in their second and higher university years seem to adhere to the belief that energy is obtained when chemical bonds are broken.
