Interferometric study of epoxy polymerization kinetics

The polymerization of optically transparent epoxy resins was studied using a Michelson interferometer. The interferometric technique exhibited a high sensitivity to the physical aspects of the polymerization, allowing the exploration of dynamics after the gel point of the polymer. The technique was also used for extensive polymer studies, such as determining how the curing profile depends on the ratio of resin to hardener.
