Chemical demonstrations attract the attention of students and the general public and arouse curiosity about chemistry. Well performed, they form an excellent platform for discussions, and sometimes demonstrations form the most vivid memories of a chemistry course. One important characteristic of an effec?tive demonstration is that it is visible, even in a large lecture hall with a big audience. Typically, aqueous solution experiments are performed in Erlenmeyer flasks or cylinders, which severely limit the size of the experiments. Another possibility is to perform experiments in Petri dishes on the top of an overhead projector to visualize the experiment. However, this latter approach often seems less direct and sometimes gives unwanted effects from the heat of the lamp.
