A case of Bergeyella zoohelcum bacteremia after ingestion of a dish prepared with goat blood. Diseases Society of America

The increase in immigration and the diversity of cultures and customs has contributed to the appearance of new forms of diseases. We describe a patient who developed Bergeyella zoohelcum bacteremia after ingestion of food prepared with coagulated goat blood. To our knowledge, this is the first case report of foodborne transmission of B. zoohelcum infection and only the third case of invasive infection caused by this bacterium.
