There continues to be much debate related to optimal strategies for ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF). While many feel strongly that pulmonary vein (PV) isolation is an essential component for the success of AF ablation (regardless of the type of AF), there are others who feel that other forms of substrate/autonomic modification lead to similar success rates. While this debate continues, it remains the case that most centers include the endpoint of PV isolation as an integral component of AF ablation#
