OSHA's Lead Paint Requirements vs. the New EPA Lead Regs

Substantial effort has been expended to educate contractors about the new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements when working on older facilities that may contain lead-based paint. The EPAs Renovation Repair and Painting (RRP) regulations became effective April 22, 2010. The new rules caught many contractors unaware of the extensive protective measures that must be utilized when working in homes or child-occupied facilities containing paint with a lead concentration greater than one-half of one percent (0.5 percent).
