As everybody knows that' 'Journal of Cardiology'' had been founded by Prof. Tuguya Sakamoto as the first editor-in-chief and his enormous efforts established the reputation of this academic journal with outstanding papers. The second editor-in-chief, Prof. Junichi Yoshikawa developed this journal and many excellent papers were published in this journal. Although many papers were quoted from this journal, the name of "Journal of Cardiology" has not been widely known because this journal was not reported in web of science. The third editor-in-chief, Prof. Chuwa Tei decided that Journal of Cardiology (JC) was split into two journals from 2008. One is a re-launch of Journal of Cardiology, this volume, as an English-language publication. The introduction of the English-language journal coincides with the launch of Nihon Shinzobyo Gakkaishi {Journal of Cardiology Japanese Edition), anew Japanese-language official journal of JCC.
