摘要

Camelpox caused by Orthopoxvirus cameli is one of the most serious viral diseases in Old World Camels (OWC). The disease occurs wherever camel husbandry is practised. An exception is the Australian dromedary population where, so far, camelpox has notbeen observed (Wernery and Kaaden, 1995). There are no reports of camelpox outbreaks in South American Camels (SAC). This paper assesses the susceptibility of guanacos to the Orthopoxvirus cameli and the protection afforded by the camelpox vaccine, ducapox, against such an infection.
