Canada’s Teck Resources reports Q1 results

The largest coal miner of Canada, Teck Resources, produced 6.23 mt of coking coal in the first quarter, which is almost unchanged year-on-year (6.27 mt) and reflects slow buying in the Canadian market. Average selling price for the company’s material was $161/t FOB (28% down y-o-y) in January-March 2013. Nevertheless, lower prices were partially compensated by the Q1 record sales (6.58 mt; 24% up).
