Only exporters active in Italian longs market

The Italian longs market has livened up somewhat in end-May largely due to an upturn in buying abroad. As reported earlier, Algerian customers started making large-scale purchases from Southern Europe at the beginning of the month, once they got convenient prices from sellers. In the first half of the month Algerian buyers booked over 100,000 t of Italian and Spanish rebar. Over the past two weeks Algerian steel traders have booked around 50,000- 60,000 t of Italian material, market players estimate.
