Migrating Tumor: A Serious Complication of Use of Endobronchial Snare Loop

Contralateral migration of polypoid endobronchial tumors after snare loop electrocautery is a potentially serious complication. We suggest such interventions be undertaken under general anesthesia. Rapid recognition and extraction of the detached tumor is crucial.A 43-year-old man with a heavy smoking history was found to have a complete right-sided white out on a chest x-ray (Fig. 1). Computed tomography scan of the chest revealed complete consolidation of right lung with loculated pleural effusion at the apex and an endobronchial process occupying the right main bronchus with patent airways distal to the obstruction.
