Inhaled nitric oxide (INO) has been used as a therapeutic agent to treat pulmonary hypertension and decrease intrapulmonary shunt for many years.1 It has been especially useful in the neonatal population. Its only Food and Drug Administration-labeled indication is hypoxemic respiratory failure in the term newborn. In United States, INO is marketed by INO Therapeutics. INO is administered using a specialized delivery system call the INOvent.
