When placed in the appropriate environments, bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stern, cells (MSCs) differentiate into a wide variety of connective tissue cell types, including osteocytes, adipocytes, chondrocytes and myocytes. The regenerative and multipotency capacities of MSCs makes them an important source of cells for tissue maintenance and repair.
