Testing for Smoke

The simplest situation is where smoke residues are so heavy that simple observation can determine their presence. That's how serious fire damage is often evaluated. However, in larger buildings, or where the damage is less severe, some form of testing may be required to determine the extent and concentration of combustion residues. Smoke particles may be absent or so evenly dispersed that simple observation detects no contrast.
