Disinfectants and Antimicrobials as a Profit Center

We live in a world of hidden dangers. Hospitals have increased their cleaning procedures but still have a difficult fight against hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) such as C-diff (Clostridium difficile), which kill about 14,000 people annually. In the restoration arena, every restorer has heard of lawsuits resulting in multi-million dollar judgments and worries about exposure to liability on their projects. Use of disinfectants and antimicrobials may be driven by concerns about liability and risk management as much as for public safety. Of course, there is a charge for treating a job-site with a mildewcide or disinfectant, but few restorers or cleaners look at this as a profit center or as a stand-alone service they can provide.
