Rural water treatment plants could get a break from EPA arsenic regulations if Congress approves a new bill.Sen.Pete Domenici(R-N.M.)introduced legislation July 22 that would exempt nonprofit small public water systems from standards.To qualify,the naturally occurring material,such as arsenic,must be higher than the standard.The bill,The Rural Community Arsenic Relief Act,also would exempt systems from radium and radon regulations.
