So far, our discussion of oil-fired hot water washers has taken us through the fuel system. In this chapter we'll look at the burner motor. It should first be noted that there are some pressure washer designs that use no burner motor. One way to accomplish that is to have a single large electric motor (usually double ended) that drives the water pump, fuel pump, and blower. Also, on combustion engine-powered machines, an old approach that has seen some revival is the use of a belt drive from the engine to run the fuel pump and blower.
