Growth is not a word used often in conjunction with economic activity during the interval 2002 to 2007. But in the paint and coatings market sector, it was growth that defined the five-year period. In fact, the sector actually realized something of a boom. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) does not have a wholly restrictive category for all activity related to paint and coatings. But a look at NAICS 325510 (paint and coating manufacturing) serves as an indicator of what has been going on in related categories. (Those categories also begin with the 325- triplet.)
