Acid-functionalized copolyamidoamines containing main-chain poly(ethylene oxide) were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Different feed ratios have been used in preparation and all of the obtained polymers, with one exception, were soluble for a short time (around one month) and become insoluble afterwards. There was an increase in the uptake of O, O min-bis(2-aminopropyl)poly(ethylene oxide) (ED 600) into the polymer with increases in the molar fraction of starting materials. The most soluble polymer was characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and electrospray mass spectrometry. The absolute molecular mass was estimated at 5500. Degradation by papain and leucine aminopeptidase in a buffer at pH 7.81 and at 37 deg C was investigated using GPC stable up to 74 h under to working conditions.
