Effect of In situ Moisture Conservation Techniques and Sowing Dates on Growth and Yield of Rabi Sorghum under Rainfed Condition

摘要

The treatment, compartmental bunding of size 6 x 5 m with 15 cm bund height was found to be significantly superior over rest of the treatments in respect of various growth and yield attributes of sorghum viz., plant height, dry matter production of plant, weight of 100 seed, grain and dry fodder yield hectare~(-1) and net return hectare~(-1). The B:C ratio of rainfed sorghum in rabi season and the soil moisture content at various depths of soil profile were also found maximum in the treatment compartmental bunding. In respect of various sowing dates, sowing of sorshum at 15th September resulted in higher plant height, dry matter content of plant, 100 seed weight, hectare~(-1) grain yield, dry fodder production, net return and B:C ratio. Adaption ofin situ moisture conservation techniques and early sowing of rabi sorghum was found more efficient for increasing the yield under rainfed condition.
