Two Alaska energy companies will pay a 42,300 penalty for alleged Clean Water Act violations related to a transmission line construction site north of Anchorage.The Environmental Protection Agency says City Electric Inc.failed to select and maintain best-management practices to prevent sediment discharge from construction into local water bodies.EPA says the company also failed to prepare and implement an adequate stormwater pollution-prevention plan.
