EPA Touts New Water Data,Rejects Claims of Lower Enforcement

After reports earlier this fall of declining national environmental enforcement,federal officials are taking the offensive,with new data citing significant increases in water pollution control efforts.The Environmental Protection Agency says local businesses and governments committed three times as much money to sewer and sanitary-sewer over flows in fiscal 2007 compared with last year,due largely to prodding from federal enforcement efforts.
