Madison Sewer District Excels In Biosolids Management

Wastewater treatment plants can learn from Madison,Wis.,which recently won recognition for its biosolids management program from the National Biosolids Partnership. The district's Nine Springs Wastewater Treatment plant receives and treats 40 million gallons per day of wastewater.The district recycles biosolids to private agriculture lands as fertilizer and soil conditioner.The program has succeeded for 30 years and received recognition from EPA as a model for other treatment plants.
