Clusterbean (Cyamopsis tetragonaloba (Linn.) Taub.) locally known as "Guar" is an annual legume of Indian origin is attacked by more than 30 fungal, bacterial and viral pathogens. Among them, bacterial leaf blight of clusterbean caused by Xanthomonasaxonopdis pv. Cyamopsidis (1,2) is one of the economically important disease. Many chemicals have been found effective in vitro in inhibiting the growth of phytopathogenic bacterial (3) studied in vitro efficacy of chemicals against clusterbean blight pathogen. They revealed that widest zone of inhibition of colonies of Xanthomonas axonopdis pv. Cyamopsidis was given by streptomycin sulphate at 250 ppm in comparative tests with 10 different treatments and it was recommended for seed treatment against Xanthomonas axonopdis pv. Cyamopsidis (4) used the leaf extract of neem against bacterial blight of clusterbean at different concentrations (10, 100, 1000, 10000 ppm) and found that these extracts were effective in controlling the disease.
