Partnering with Farm Bureau Helps Water Agency Succeed

PHILADELPHIA - Regulators can impose water quality restrictions on farms if they get help from nonprofit groups assisting agricultural interests,according to speakers at the TMDL 2005 Conference June 26-29.After investigating sources of pollution,the Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board determined irrigation canals,drains and soil erosion needed addressing,said Sheila Ault,an official with the board,which serves California farmers.The board wanted to implement the total maximum daily load valleywide and have the same schedule for all pollutants.
