The effect of hydrogen on the elastic modulus of a gamma titanium aluminide sheet is determined by means of a vibrations-based method by measuring the natural frequencies of the specimen in the form of a cantilever. Hydrogen was introduced into the gamma-Met sheet by cathodic charging. Results demonstrate that hydrogen decreases the value of the elastic modulus by up to 15 percent.
