摘要

For the purpose of increasing internal friction of carbon-carbon (C/C) composites, it was attempted to utilize frictional sliding at the fiber/matrix interface. Since it is required to reduce the strength at the interface to realize such behavior, oxidation treatment of the C/C composites was carried out in this study. Through experiments with various oxidation temperatures, the internal friction was successfully increased up to seven times the original value by oxidation at 733 K with 1 percent of weight loss. Furthermore, the four-point bending strength also increased by 40 percent with the same oxidation condition. The improvements in the internal friction and the strength were attributed to the selective oxidation at the interface.
