摘要

Primary cell cultures derived from ovary and haemocytes of tropical shrimps were used for detection of virulence factors (attachment, cytopathic effects) of various Vibrio strains isolated during outbreaks of mortality. Highly pathogenic and opportunistic Vibrio strains adhered to cells in culture. However, cytopathic effects appeared more rapidly with highly pathogenic Vibrio strains. Primary cell cultures from lymphoid organ and ovary were also "exposed" to 2 different widely distributed viruses,the infectious hypodermal and haematopoietic necrosis (IHHN) virus and taura syndrome (TS) virus. Susceptibility of shrimp cells was observed for 24 h following infection. Cells degraded with TS virus and showed pyknotic and karyorrhectic nuclei and spherical inclusion bodies. Infection of cultured cells by IHHN virus induced karyolysis and marginated chromatin. It is concluded that the in vitro assay can be used as an alternative method for studying shrimp pathogens.
