In pot experiments for several years the influence of 2-aminoethanol (AE) and choline (1-10(-2) M, 0.3-0.5 mg/plant) on the yield formation of barley (Hordeum vulgare L., 5 varities) under different water supply were investigated. Under drought stress choline and AE increased the grain yield of barley from 5 % to 30 %. The effect of choline and AE on yield formation was higher on condition of stronger stress. Treatments with amines also increased significantly the yield of grain proteins and the yield of lysine, isoleucine and other essential amino acids (about 50 % at stronger stress).
