摘要

The World Wide Web (WWW) has become a key source of information about anything and everything, both at home and at work. There are some regions of the world, and parts of countries, where internet access is still limited or nonexistent but its spread is steadily increasing. For healthcare professionals who do have internet access, the WWW provides a rich resource. And, as access to ward-based and hand-held computers steadily increases, the WWW is used more and more on a day-to-day basis in health care to answer clinical questions, inform decision-making and respond to patients' own increasing use of the internet.
