Castration for treating recurrent priapism: Can we do better?

Our case report describing the management of recurrent priapism in a man using continuous, non-stimulatory phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitor therapy after restored eugonadal status (Pierorazio et al, 2011) has caused me to further reflect on the profound adversity of long-term androgen ablation as a prescription for this condition.
