Sol-gel Preparation of SrTiO3 Photocatalyst Loaded on HZSM-5 Zeolite

Composite SrTiO3/HZSM-5 photocatalysts were prepared by sol-gel method using HZSM-5 as the support for strontium titanate. The crystallite size of perovskite structure SrTiO3 almost has no change after supporting on HZSM-5. SrTiO3 disperses on the surface of HZSM-5. HZSM-5 is responsible for the porous structure and enlarged surface area in the composite chi SrTiO3/HZSM-5. Binding energies of Sr3d and Ti2p electrons shift to high energy end after loading SrTiO3 on HZSM-5, indicating electron transfer from SrTiO3 to HZSM-5. Photocatalytic activity of SrTiO3 is enhanced after supporting on HZSM-5 surface, and the 30%SrTiO3/HZSM-5 composite has the maximum activity. Nearly 80% of the initial activity of the supported SrTiO3 is maintained after 4 photocatalytic recycles.
