Using Potted Plants to Create a Garden Landscape

Ihave been growing rhododendrons in pots for about 18 years, even when I had a proper city lot with dirt and not the rocks and clay I have at my current location. At that time, fellow rhodoholics didn't think using pots extensively was such a great idea, but I had run out of room in my garden in Qualicum Beach, BC, so the extra plants went into pots on the deck and patios. R 'Point Defiance', for an example, grew in a large pot for at least ten years, blooming and looking great until I found a garden home for it. I still have 'Queen Anne's' here in Nanaimo that has been in a pot for 18 years. She is five feet (1.5m) wide and about 41/2 feet (1.4 m) hieh.
