Honey Shows & Honey Showing: A Beginner's Odyssey

For my sixtieth birthday my wife gave me a course in beekeeping. I have since kept bees for fifteen years, so, perhaps as a beekeeper, I am not, strictly speaking, a beginner. I keep my bees in my garden, thirty yards from my house and have never hadmore than eight colonies in my apiary. Currently there are six, two of which are relatively weak. I live in the Central Highlands, close to the shores of Loch Rannoch, at an altitude of approximately 700ft above sea level. My bees are kept year-round inmy garden, approximately 200ft below the nearest stands of ling heather and perhaps a quarter of a mile away horizontally.
