摘要

The announcement of the initiative was applauded by the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). AAFP President Glen Stream, MD, said his organization supports the initiative because it mirrors the AAFP's position and pays for incentives that can change the way practices work. "If we are going to be successful in reforming health care, we need strong primary care, andwehavenotbeen adequately compensated; this fee is a strategy to address it,"said Stream, a family practice physician in Spokane, Wash.
