To the Editor: Dr Segev and colleagues1 provided some assurance that appropriately selected living kidney donors can have a normal life span despite removal of a kidney. However, a word of caution is in order regarding the conclusion that "the current practice of live kidney donation should continue to be considered a reasonable and safe modality for addressing the profound shortage in deceased donor organs."
