PROMPT DISSEMINATION OF RESULTS OF SCIENTIFIC IN-vestigations is an important responsibility of bio-medical researchers and journal editors. JAMA has made concerted efforts to reduce the time to publication, such that the median time from manuscript submission to acceptance, including time for peer review and author revision, is now 69 days and the median time from acceptance to publication is now 37 days.However, for major research reports that have practice-changing implications or substantial public health importance, even this amount of time may be too long.
