Building 90 at San Francisco General Hospital houses, among other things, the research offices of the Department of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) and the Methadone Clinic. The DGIM sits perched atop the fifth floor, while the Methadone Clinic is stationed directly below. To reach their destinations, physicians, patients, and researchers alike are obliged to make the lengthy climb or take the sole elevator. As a strong supporter of basic public health interventions such as exercise, I resolved to climb the stairs.
