摘要

Unfortunately, the experience represented by this case correlates with those occurring when caring for patients and their families from cultures and traditions that are less well understood by clinicians caring for them. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations expectations that all healthcare institutions become more culturally aware and conversant with beliefs and practices from diverse communities will not ensure that specific expectations and beliefs of individuals coming for care will be known and addressed appropriately.
