Alliance of Americas: TMS Looks to the Future with Brazilian and Canadian Societies

In 2008, the TMS Board of Directors conceptualized a strategic theme called "Alliance of the Americas" as a way to augment its global mission by working together with Society partners in Canada and South America. In 2009, at the TMS Annual Meeting, the first steps in this direction were taken with the signing of separate Memoranda of Understanding with the Associacao Brasileira de Metalurgia, Materials e Mineracao (ABM), and the Metallurgical Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum (MetSoc). Notable progress has been made with both of these societies, so it is a good time to provide an update.
