Acute Type B Aortic Dissection With Communicating vs. Non-Communicating False Lumen

Acute aortic dissection (AAD) is a potentially fatal cardiovascular disease, but the prevalence of AAD is lower than that of acute myocardial infarction, so data collected from a single center in order to characterize the disease are unlikely to be representative of the entire population. The Tokyo CCU Network consisted of 62 hospitals in Tokyo in 2009 and encompassed the entire Tokyo metropolitan area. The large number of patients presenting to hospitals in the network affords a unique opportunity to collect data that are likely to be highly representative of cardiovascular diseases - including AAD - in the real world.
