With the "TSSD" ("Thermal Adhesive Bonding Boss"), Ejot has developed a product which offers the corresponding joining process and makes it possible to fasten components made of lightweight construction materials in a secure and strong way. Sandwich structures are differentiated according to the core material and both the surface layers. The core material may consist of foamed materials (such as EPP, PVC or PUR) or, in the case of higher stiffnesses, honeycomb structures made of plastic (mostly PP) or paper. Combinations of these different materials are technically feasible as well. While attention primarily centres on the mechanical properties in the case of the core material, the optical aspect is an additional factor with the surface layer. Depending on the application, wood, GRP and CRP materials, aluminium, thin sheets or even veneers are utilised in this respect.
