Modeling and identification of thermal phenomena in a hot strip mill run-out table

The technical literature is fairly poor concerning the thermal phenomena occurring in a hot strip mill run-out table. Opinions of authors about modeling are of-ten contradictory, and next to nothing can be found about the implementation of the model. This work proposes a synthetic overview of a quite complete model for this problem in which the efficiency of successive improvements is evalutated. It covers many practical aspects of its implementation, including the identification and the problem conditioning. It results in a satisfying low prediction error.
