Legislative Update from OSMAA President-elect Lisa Porter

Legislative Advocacy continues to be an important part of the Oklahoma State Medical Association Alliance (OSMAA). Several Alliance members participated in a Legislative Training Session on Medicine Day, February 22, 2012. Following a tour of the State Capitol, members received lobbying tips and State legislative updates from Wes Glinsmann, OSMA's Director of State Legislation and Political Affairs and our lobbyists Jim Dunlap and Pat Hall. Senator Susan Paddack helped organize the training session and spoke to our members along with Representative Pam Peterson. Alliance members had time to visit their legislators' offices, and then met at OSMA Headquarters for a Federal legislative update from OSMAA President Diana Hampton and OSMA Director of Governmental Affairs Kathy Musson, who had just returned from the AMA Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC. That evening, physicians and spouses from across the state met with Oklahoma State legislators at the Medicine Day reception at OSMA Headquarters.
