Milking the Cow for More than Milk

The US fluid milk category continues to evolve into being so much more than commodity "white stuff". Most innovations to date have come in the form of packaging, but during this past year there have been a number of products with some unigue positionings and formulations. For example, Dakin Dairy Farms, Myakka City, Florida, has been milking cows since 1973 and selling it at the farm's store. Only recently has the dairy's Farm Fresh Milk become available at Whole Foods Markets throughout Florida. The family-owned dairy says the high-protein grasses and grains that the cows consume give the milk a superb, fresh-from-the-farm taste.
